BOTH Participates in the Construction of the World’s First Gen 8.6 Inkjet-Printed OLED Production Line
2026-09-23

Advances in display technology continue to drive the evolution of manufacturing processes.
The world’s first Gen 8.6 inkjet-printed OLED production line uses 2,290 mm × 2,620 mm glass substrates and targets medium-sized display applications, including monitors, laptops, and tablets. Unlike conventional OLED manufacturing methods, inkjet-printed OLED technology uses high-precision printheads to deposit light-emitting materials onto substrates in predefined patterns.
As new processes scale up to production on larger-generation substrates, production environments must be aligned with process and equipment requirements. A cleanroom is more than a space that houses production equipment. Together with electrical power, exhaust, and other utility systems, it establishes the conditions required for manufacturing. BOTH supports high-tech manufacturing through its cleanroom systems integration capabilities, from cleanroom construction to connections between facility systems and process equipment, providing specialist support for next-generation manufacturing facilities.
From Technological Innovation to Manufacturing
Higher-generation display production lines require closer coordination between the production environment and process equipment. Cleanrooms must meet specified cleanliness and environmental stability requirements, while electrical power, exhaust, and related systems must be effectively integrated to serve process equipment. The challenge is to ensure that the production environment is fully aligned with the manufacturing process. Coordination across cleanroom, electrical power, exhaust, and related systems is essential to meeting the production needs of high-tech manufacturing facilities.
Aligning Integrated System Design with Production Requirements
On this project, BOTH is involved in cleanroom systems construction and equipment hook-up, providing on-site installation and connections for electrical power, exhaust, and other systems in accordance with process equipment requirements. This work establishes essential conditions for equipment move-in and process operation. Through an integrated design approach, BOTH coordinates cleanroom, electrical power, exhaust, and related systems, aligning their configuration and interfaces with production and equipment needs. This enables cleanroom systems to meet facility requirements while supporting the specific needs of the manufacturing process.
This reflects BOTH’s longstanding expertise in serving high-tech industries: extending beyond cleanroom construction to coordinate the production environment with process systems, helping new technologies progress to large-scale manufacturing.
Supporting Next-Generation High-Tech Manufacturing Facilities
The Gen 8.6 inkjet-printed OLED production line marks a step in the transition of advanced display technology to manufacturing on larger-generation substrates. For BOTH, supporting such next-generation facilities requires more than the construction of individual systems. It calls for an understanding of production requirements and effective coordination between cleanroom systems, electrical power, exhaust, and process equipment.
As high-tech manufacturing places greater demands on efficiency, energy use, and environmental performance, facilities must deliver value beyond immediate production needs. BOTH integrates sustainability throughout the lifecycle, from design, procurement, manufacturing, and construction to operation and maintenance. Through energy-efficient design and green construction practices, BOTH helps clients improve energy efficiency and environmental performance.
BOTH creates long-term value through professional services, working with clients to advance industry.
